Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time of year to schedule my session?

April through October are the best months to schedule your session.

What happens if you’re sick or are unable to shoot the session on the scheduled day?

If I am sick or unable to shoot the session, we will reschedule your session for my earliest available date.

How will I know how to pose?

I have had extensive training on how to pose you best, and I will direct you every step of the way!

How many outfit changes can I have?

If you choose the two-hour package, you are allowed up to 3-4 outfit changes. For the one-hour session, you are allowed 1 or 2.

What should I bring?

Pack a bag with flats or flip-flops for walking between photo spots, your other outfits, touch-up makeup, a water bottle (for warmer sessions), and a coat or cover-up (for colder sessions).

I really don’t like “X” about me. Can we shoot around it?

We all have at least one thing we are self-conscious about! In my senior questionnaire, there is a place to list your least favorite feature, and I will do my best to work around it.

How long have you been shooting seniors?

I have been shooting seniors for almost two years now.

I prefer black and white images. Will you edit them in color and black and white?

Yes, I can if you specifically request it!

Is there an extra fee for creative edits?

Yes, there will be an additional charge per image for creative edits.

How many photos will I receive?

For the one-hour session, you will receive a minimum of 30 images and a minimum of 60 images for the two-hour session.

Do you offer professional retouching (e.g., zit removal)?

Yes, I will lightly retouch your photos. Extensive editing will be an additional charge.

How long does it take to get the photos back?

It can take 2-4 weeks to receive your photos.

What should I wear?

Upon booking, you will receive my style guide that will help you plan your outfits!

What if I wear glasses?

I will do my best to place you so that the sun’s glare is minimal.

What time of day would be best for the session?

I’m a natural light specialist because I believe that natural light, from the sun and its reflections, creates photographs that feel fresh, timeless, and truest to you. I begin all portrait sessions two hours before the scheduled sunset during “the golden hour,” when the light is the dreamiest. I use a sunset calculator online to determine the scheduled sunset for the date and location you’d like to do your session. Then, I subtract two hours to figure out your start time. Remember, the sun sets much earlier during the colder months of the year and much later during the warmer months, so make sure to factor that in when choosing your senior session date. To get the most out of your session, please plan a buffer when getting ready to arrive a few minutes early to your session and be prepared to start on time. I’m only able to shoot when natural light is still in the sky, so I’ll want to take advantage of every minute we have together before the sun goes down. If you’re wearing multiple outfits, save your favorite ones for the second half.

Do you have any samples of your senior sessions?

Yes, I do! On my blog, I highlight my sessions. I do not feature every image from the sessions, but I do pick out my favorites!

Is there any extra cost to include my pet?

No, not at all! I would love to include your pet!

If we end up needing more time on the day of the session, can it be added on then?

I schedule my sessions so that we will have plenty of time on the day of. If you’d like to have more time, you are welcome to purchase an additional session.

Do you bring an assistant with you?

No, I do not bring an assistant with me.

How much do senior sessions end up costing?

Additional charges include travel costs and products from my professional print shop such as prints or albums.
